Robot Day Two

Mar 26 05 | 7:51 am

Today at robot we did a lot of robot stuff and ended the day 4-4. We quickly broke one of the wheelchair wheels, and then when it was clear the vision tetra capping plan wasn’t going to work we scrapped it and tried to do some crazy knocking hanging tetra stuff Betts was working on, but it didn’t come together in time for us to test it properly. We have three more matches tomorrow, but they’re mostly with bad robots against good robots. Melough started the day capping great, but then we got some weird angles picking up vision tetras and some stuff didn’t go on right, and it got ugly. It especially didn’t help when we had no strong alliance parters so all the enemy defensive bots could gang up against us.

I’m sure some other exciting stuff happened, too. I don’t really know where everyone was most of the time though. Melough kept laughing over something I said yesterday. Other team: “Can you guys cap the vision tetra?” Me: “We try. We try like crazy.”

Oh yes, last night we went to this hugemongous mall called the King of Prussia. It had about three billion stores in it. The Apple store is much less exciting now that I have an iPod, as everything else there that I want is like $3000. Natalie tried to pose as Kat’s older sister so they could get their ears pierced, but then they asked for ID. Oh snap.

At Burger King, I ordered a Chicken Whopper for myself and a Spicy Tendercrisp for Chris. They gave us two sandwiches, one labeled tendercrisp and one big fish. The tendercrisp one was chicken, so Chris ate it. The fish one looked like fish but it also was chicken but I took it back and asked for my Chicken Whopper. The girls there were giving me a lot of attitude and wanted me to go get the other sandwich to prove to them that they messed up. But they were all using profanity and it took them like ten minutes to finally make me my sandwich. Jeez.

Somebody from Paragon bought a universal remote, so we undeleted the AUX channel on a bunch of the TVs so we can play video games. It was pretty clutch, as we didn’t feel like melting off the plastic caps that keep the coax cables locked in place on the televisions. I wonder if they lock all that stuff up more so someone doesn’t mess it all up and unplug it all or so you can’t bring in your own stuff and are forced to buy their in-hotel movies. There’s also this wireless keyboard under the TV; I guess you can get internet on the TV. It seems to me like that would mostly suck without a mouse, especially since TV screens are so small.

The team social was at the Drexel main hall, which is this huge marble three level room. They were really fancy about serving food, but it was mostly cheap food. There was a magician and a balloon guy (a really awesome balloon guy) and a juggler and a yo-yoer and a guy pretending to be a really bad employee. It was pretty entertaining, but we took off quickly.

I left my cell phone on the bus yesterday after the mall, at least I think. When I call it no one answers, and I’ve tried calling it a lott. I hope that I find it tomorrow when we go back on the bus. We have to get all our stuff ready for 8:00am though, so it means I have to wake up earlier than previously. It really sucks not having a cell phone when you’re on a trip with a bunch of other people with cell phones. Ugh.

Tomorrow is the last day. I have a bunch of schoolwork to do, but I’m definantly saving it until Easter and the ride home tomorrow.
