Even a broken clock can be used as firewood

Robot Day Three

Mar 27 05 | 7:51 am

Prague Human Played today, we won two of our three matches. We weren’t selected for an alliance. I couldn’t believe it. First I was hoping we’d slip by long enough to make it on one of the top alliances, then I was hoping we’d get picked. I thought we were better than a lot of the robots that did get picked. It really sucks. There was much disappointment about it all among the team, but we generally recovered.

After that, me and Caitlin and Natalie and Eric and Matt and Kat walked around looking for cheesesteaks and eventually found them. It was pretty funny; Google SMS doesn’t help when you don’t know street names.

I went back and watched the quarters and semis and finals. MOE had a crazy autonomous rountine when it worked, and the other teams there were all solid. There was serious tetra capping going on, but we weren’t a part of it. Oh well; we came, we tried, we got overlooked by the other teams. Better luck next year. We didn’t win any awards, either. We wanted to give out the “177 Quality in Engineering Award” and give the team one of our broken wheelchair wheels.

The bus ride home was good. Melough couldn’t get over my “We try to cap like crazy,” “We tried to cap like a fox,” and “We’ll cap at least five or six vision tetras this game,” comments. Much hilarity continued to ensue on the ride home after I got a bit of school work done. Kim was a bit distraught, but it was all good in the end. Melough and I are going to invent the infrared flashbulb for cameras to prevent blinding you when you take a picture in the dark (as was done to us). It’s a good plan, we just have to see if we can get it to work well.

Now it’s time for all sorts of off-season fund raising and activities. And I have to do homework tomorrow (I wanted to do it tonite, but oh well). Photos are going into an album, they’ll serve as better memories than words.
