I worked for about six hours today to make my PHP/MySQL project that I had been tossing around in the back of my head for a while. I wanted to teach myself real databasing, instead of this flat file junk I do for little things. But I needed something worth databasing.
Then it hit me. I could make an online repository of all the classes people are in and who’s in which class so that people can find out who’s going to be in their classes next year!
So I did. A post on Chief Delphi got me the help I needed in terms of actual examples to base my stuff on. I got some great help, and read a 19 page tutorial at Cape Cod.
I got home, set up some web server apps so I could develope offline, and went at it. It turned out a little easier than I thought once I really got rolling. Overall, it only took about six hours, which was good, considering earlier today I didn’t expect to finish for a couple days.
Obviously, there are a few bugs, as bui just added himself for a second time. I also was too lazy to write a user system so people could go back and edit their classes. Also, Globat’s online MySQL is older than mine or something, so I can’t edit information in the table very easily.
A lot of people have complimented me on it, which makes me feel cool. You heard it here first: cool kids write code. I love when my stuff works.
Mo dropped off a Vex kit today too, I built that also. I’m wicked productive.

Greg Marra’s Schedule Checker for 2006
Simple, cool new php script by Greg Marra. Enter your name and select your classes from the lists, and it’ll tell you who is in your classes. Check it out, and add yourself if you’re an SWH…
