or, “Crisis Averted”
A botched upgrade from pMachine 2.3 Free to pMachine 2.4 Pro (now free) last night created a situation whereby I was stuck in between versions 2.3 and 2.4. A faulty FTP server is to blame (shakes fist angrily at Globat). I was going to just back everything up and convert to WordPress, but Chris came up with a brilliant idea. Instead of trying to reconfigure my install to fit 2.4, why not make a new, seperate 2.4 install?
It worked. I have since renamed the 2.3 install and swapped the 2.4 in for it. They both access the same database (hence me being in limbo between versions) so all the entries are still here.
So, RSS is new and improved (read: functions. I didn’t realize it was broken before). Also, I now can ping technorati for real. There’s a whole bunch of other new features that I don’t even know what they do yet, so I’ll delve into those later.
Chris, you win a gold star.
Wordpress is still > pmachine.

The primary advantage that Wordpress has is that it is GPL and constantly in development, so there’s always tasty new features getting added. pMachine doesn’t really have that going for it at all. I’ll probably switch over when I change hosts in November.
