Podcasting

iTunes 4.9 (which won’t properly install on my system) has introduced me to the world of quality podcasts. Previously, my only exposure to podcasting was through Alex Pelan’s Blog, which wasn’t really the cream of the crop. My psuedo-iTunes has brought me real podcasts, and are they wonderful.

The two that Chris has aggregated for me are called This Week in Tech and digg.com. I haven’t actually listened to any of the digg.com podcasts, but Chris says they are like audio Slashdots. The TWiT Podcasts are really great though. They’re about an hour long, and it’s a bunch of smart guys talking about technology (primarily computers). They’re pretty insightful, and it’s fun to listen to. Especially since my iPod now supports Podcasting right in the firmware. It’s really easy for me to listen to these things, since they’re going to automagically appear on my iPod. I love it.

I also recommend systm, another free media techy program on the Internet. Systm is pretty good, but they only have two episodes so far, so I’m waiting for more content. It’s quality, especially for the price.

Today Monica had some people over to her house to hang out. It was fun, we played badminton, and made smores, and played Clue. It wasn’t ordinary Clue though. It was Clue: Master Detective. There are extra characters and weapons and rooms and rules. It was insane. We ran out of time though, so we couldn’t finish it all the way.

I’m going to 4H camp next week, so if you missed sending me a letter at WPI, you get another chance ;-)

  1. Your website is not compatible with users who are viewing it at 640 x 480 resolution. Just thought you should know.

  2. Sometimes, when I’m bored, I google myself

    That sounds dirty.

  3. Hmm, I probably could fix that with a bit of tweaking, but I don’t think anyone with that low of a resolution visits here. Even if they do, it’s just harder to read, not impossible.

  5. ^^ I hooked an old computer up to my TV, which has 640 x 480. The computer is a Pentium II 233mhz, 64mb RAM. It’s hot.

  6. If you’re going through RCA (not s-video), technically you’re only getting 320 lines.

It is really useful, I have s-video out of my laptop through an RCA adaptor, plus 1/8″ to RCA adaptor, so I can play stuff off my laptop. DVDs, games, etc. It rocks.

  7. I have s-video ports but no cable. Oh well. I’ll just have to squint.

  9. I wasn’t making fun of it, it’s just considerably less polished than others. It’s also considerably less Polish, which looks like polished, but polished does not mean “having made something Polish” so don’t get confused.
