Party Multiplicity

In the last two days, I have attended as many parties. I also attended Thanksgiving, which is always good. We took a walk after eating, and went to check out some houses under construction near my aunt and uncle’s house. One of the two houses is a huge rectangle with a giant solar panel on the oddly sloped roof. The other house was quite sizeable and really looked like a mansion. It was very fancy on the outside, and they had all sorts of sweet stonework. On the way out of the private street these two houses reside on, a car passed us. My uncle talked with the driver for a bit, who happened to be the owner of the sizeable house, and it seemed like the driver was kind of annoyed we were scoping out his still-under-construction house. We attributed our stroll to ‘burning off turkey’ and proceeded on.
Yesterday, I attended Caitlin’s glow-in-the-dark sweet sixteen. I decided to subvert the theme and dress entirely in non-UV responsive black. When people asked why I did this, I told them that I was invisible, since there were few lights and I had no glow devices. It was quite a fun party. There was a lot of dancing and talking and merrymaking. Caitlin had her computer in the basement set up to scroll “Please Don’t Touch,” but I immediately ignored the message and throughout the night changed it to say other, more interesting things. Among my favorites were “Did you know that 4 out of 5 dance related accidents are caused by the Macara?” and “While we may not all glow in the dark, we all glow on the inside.” Everyone seemed to get a kick out of the messages.
Today, I went to Maya’s live-bands-at-the-community-center sweet sixteen. It was also a lot of fun, and the music was pretty good. I’m still convinced the music would have been a lot better if the bands didn’t play so loudly. I don’t understand why people think loud equals good. The only thing loud does is make it impossible to hear the singer (coincidentally, many small bands have bad singers) and ruin the balance on the instruments (coincidentally, many small bands don’t know how to balance well?). I have determined that the quality of a band is inversely proportional to the amount of time it takes them to set up their gear and their volume. Maybe it’s me, but I think the point of lyrics are to be understood. Maya’s party was quite good though; the venue lended itself to the activities perfectly.
Here is why I am on an incredible roll: Two weeks ago was the LAN party, last week was Thanksgiving and two parties, this week is the talent show, the next week is the U2 concert at the civic center, the next week is Wicked at the Bushnell, the next week is Free Shirt Week mkII, the next week is Christmas, the next week is break and New Year’s, the next week is the FIRST kickoff, and then the streak comes crashing to an end, as the next week is midterms.
And to top it all off, somebody bought a Keepin’ It Real shirt!
