An Experiment Gone Wrong

Today in Calculus, I was talking with Jenn. I told Jenn that it would be a good idea to make some hot beverages for her 90’s movie party. We got brainistorming, and decided that hot chocolate would be good when made with Sprite as a base. It turns out this idea is unfeasible for several reasons.
Start with the ingredients, heat the water, observe chemistry in action.
Not only do you have the whole “the CO2 doesn’t stay put” problem, the whole thing tastes wicked bad. It’s one of the most vile beverages I have ever tasted. It’s like what alka seltzer would taste like if they tried to make chocolate flavoured alka seltzer. It’s not that it smells bad or anything, it’s just noxious. It’s really all together quite gross, and even pouring it down the sink made my brother gag.
I must locate a better hot chocolate beverage! What’s next? Jello Spaghetti.

Wow, that looks like some grotesque thing from the swamp in star wars. yucky. perhaps coffee would make a good base. Think of it as a powdered mocha thing.

Cool blog. Guess what, I just grabbed a piece of scrap paper from my cabinet. It turns out this piece of paper is a worksheet from those Everyday Math Journals that we used from grades 1-6. This particular work sheet was on converting celsius to fahrenheit. Apparently, I did very well at mindless computations. Bye. (Get the preview button back. I blame you if this post has html typos)

I remember back when they were teaching us how everything was going to turn metric soon. Remember how in 2nd grade we were multiplying 4 digit numbers? That was intense.
Also: They no longer have number machines in the elementary school math curriculum. They were the perfect analog for functions, especially for function notation. How are these kids going to learn?

Yeah, those number machines were clutch. Apparently you don’t sleep anymore either?

Nah, I had the wrong GMT offset. It’s fixed now.

whoa number machines were the shit. except my teacher called them function boxes. and speaking of boxes, what happened to math boxes? they were my favorite.

[…] You may recall several days ago when I tried to make hot chocolate with Sprite as a base. This experiment did not go so well, and resulted in chocolate Sprite bubbles all over the counter. […]
