Some housekeeping

Feb 23 06 | 11:24 pm

Using a powersupply graciously lent to me, I have revived my desktop.

On the front page, I have changed a bit of under the hood code to be much cleaner, and upgraded the countdown to now count down (or up) to a random event. Right now I only have about 4, and none of them are very good. If you have any suggestions, leave them in the comments and they may be included. Pretty soon I will revise all of the other random cycling stuff on the page, such as the blog sub-titles and the front page footer quotes. I just need to get around to it.

The college search continues. Today I set up a Penn interview, and tomorrow I will be heading up to Olin College near Boston for their Candidates’ Weekend. Two days of learning more about the college, meeting other applicants, and small group projects await me. This is both good, because I am itching to do something exciting since the robot shipped, and bad, because I have not done an ounce of homework yet. At least the Spain kids will be behind when we get back, so they will unbalance things for a few days.

Today I also took (or attempted to take) the P1 Actuarial Exam. It is a three hour exam that I completed in one hour. “One hour? Greg, surely you are a statistical/probabilitical genius!” Actually, I am not. You see, I simply answered the one third of the questions that I knew how to complete and then left. It turns out AP Statistics does not actually prepare you for the exam. Worth a shot, though. I will possibly try again once I have some college level courses behind me.
