Wednesday, I will be departing for the home of most of the world’s giraffes, Atlanta. This will be primarily for the reason that the FIRST Robotics Championships are there, and secondarily for the reason that I am a senior and don’t like going to class anymore.

Nationals (as we mistakenly call them) should be a tremendous amount of fun. There is a large list of people I need to find while I am there. Some people who I know aren’t even going, so I am just going to go to their team’s pit, ask “Do you know Steve Smith?” then when they say yes say, “Me too!” Olin College is also sending a few students down to man a booth with information about the school, and I hear they are going to have swag…

Of course, I will also be extremely busy driving the robot. I almost wish I wasn’t on drive team so I would have more time to partake in the general awesomeness that I am told is nats, but pushing other robots around is just too fun. Chris will be my operator in Philly. Some people call us the “Super Marra Brothers”. Let us just hope we can live up to the hype. I don’t have amazingly high expectations for us in Atlanta, but then again I didn’t at UTC or Philly, and look what happened there.

However, karma bites back. It seems the universe has deemed that in exchange for my recent bout of relative luck, I must present my English thesis on the first day. This means I have about one month to write a 25 page monster. I guess the good news is I am now motivated to work on it. Please take the time to fill out this survey for my thesis! I need 12-15 resources, and you can be one of them! I’ll even put you in the works cited as “A bunch of my really cool friends and maybe random people who stumbled across my page on the Internets”. My topic is basically “How come stories are always about really extraordinary events?” You would think authors would just write about what they know best: their day-to-day lives.

Did I mention that I go to Atlanta in 2 days? Or that I graduate in 59 days? Or that I go to Olin in 126 days?
