If it ain’t baroque, don’t fix it!

I have been at Olin for three weeks. You know that feeling you get when someone asks you what summer camp was like right after you get back? There were so many things that happened you can’t even remember them all, much less coherently explain them to someone else. So in the interest of avoiding verbosity, here is a series of photos and captions to explain to you what it’s been like:

My scavenger hunt team at MIT.

For orientation, we did a scavenger hunt through Boston. Here is me and my team on the steps of MIT. Walking down the Infinite Corridor trying to solve a puzzle is a pretty awesome sensation. The best clue was when we were given an audio CD with the clue on it. It is super hard to find a CD player in a city. We asked a street performer if we could borrow his CD player, but one team actually got it played over the sound system at Cheers. Not bad.

I feel this does a fairly good job explaining the culture at Olin a little. It was in the window of one of the suites that upperclassmen get.

My bulletin board!.

My parents sent me a huge photo of my bulletin board at home. I want to get a real bulletin board and pin this on top and then keep pinning things to it. The only problem is I keep going to reach for something on it only to find out it is but a 2-D replica.

Baxtor!

This is our pet roomba, Baxtor. A bunch of us in the freshman class thought it would be really awesome to have a pet roomba, so we set up a collection box in the lounge. Thanks to a sale on Amazon, we picked this little dude up for only $100. I have used him to vacuum my room, and it is super convenient.

Me with a shoe.

Every year, Olin participates in the Race for the Cure 5k for breast cancer research. New Balance was a sponsor, and had a big shoe mascot there. Olin had the most members on its team of any non-corporate team.

legos!

Clearly, I am beginning to rival Pietkovich in my CADing skills.

This is a lot easier than blogging for real. Maybe I’ll just do one of these every once in a while. Things here are going pretty well overall. If you’re a senior in high school, I highly recommend you start getting those essays done before it’s December and you have no time left. Trust me, it will sneak up on you. If you’re a freshman in college, I recommend writing a letter to someone. That’s what I am doing. Letters are really fun.

Theology is never any help; it is searching in a dark cellar at midnight for a black cat that isn’t there. Theologians can persuade themselves of anything…
