Dancing Through Life

There are fundamentally three ways to go places. You can propel yourself, you can manipulate the environment to propel you, or you can be propelled with no effort on your own part at all.
The first one is something we do every day. We walk from place to place, usually to get somewhere in time for something. We usually don’t bother to take our surroundings much into consideration. I mean, we walk around obstacles and say hi to people we pass, but usually our routes are routine. Look at the word: routine. Still, occasionally we slow down. A walk along the shore in the summer, or through the woods in autumn. You actually look at the sights, you actually smell the smells. But these are the exceptions.
You can also get around by manipulating your environment. Cars, bikesm kayaks and segways are all ways we get around when we’re in an even bigger hurry. We go faster and faster, trying to cut down on the travel time as much as possible. In our view, the ultimate transportation mode would be if we could get from point A to point B instantly. More seconds to pack into our schedule. Less hassle bothering to move ourselves around.
The one we like the least is when we are not in control of how we move. Someone else pushes us around or we are just being pushed around by a river. We want to be in control. But if we can just relax and look around, there is a whole lot of details we normally gloss over.
I guess what I’m really trying to say is: It’s good to mix up your perspective once in a while.
This was a good read. And god damn it, I got back into Deception. But then got out of it almost immediately because I’m still freakin’ stuck.
