The '2' is because I'm twice as cool.

Dear FutureMe,

I’m watching an episode of TWiT right now, because I’m really procrastinating from college essays and AP English work.

You’ll be in college when you get this, so how are things going? Did you get a tablet like you’ve been coveting for so long? A mac?

Don’t forget to vote, because that will be in about two months. Civics class wasn’t cool, but don’t hold it against the democratic process.

I hope your web projects are going well, ClassComp 2 was coming along nicely, was it successful? Chris ought to be able to get the DNS stuff going, ChrisMarra.com and BobcatRobotics.org.

Keep it real,
Greg

Interesting what I decided I would find interesting in a year. College is going well, but due to my choice of school I have neither a tablet nor a Mac. I am glad that I don’t have college essays or AP English stuff, but there’s plenty of other work to keep me busy. My absentee ballot form is mailed, so that will be taken care of. Civics class actually wound up being cooler after I wrote that, mostly because of the talent show which was a lot of fun to run.

ClassComp 2 never happened and turned into CollegeComp. If the high school had released class schedules over the summer again, ClassComp 2 would have materialized. ChrisMarra.com seems to be pretty tame at the moment, but that’s no fault of my own ;). I don’t remember if we had Bobcatrobotics.org last September, but that is totally sweet.

It’s interesting that I signed the letter with “keep it real” because I am almost sure that I hadn’t thought up my keepin it real t-shirt yet. Maybe I started saying it a lot and that’s what made me think of it.

Earlier this year, I got a letter to myself that I had written in 7th grade. My English teacher saved them and mailed them to us, and that was really nifty. I always wish I had written more in the letters to myself, but when I’m writing them I never know what to say. There may or may not be a time capsule under the stairs in my house, and I hope whoever finds that isn’t disappointed by the shortness of my letter in it. I think we put a floppy disk in too. How retro will that be?

This was a fun little blast from the past.

  1. I did this last year and told it to sent it to me in September of 2009.
